Wendy’s incredible passion for all elements of health and physical fitness has been a core component of her life since she began teaching aerobics at age 16. This passion has given her a life-long career in health and physical fitness, with stints as a personal trainer and physical therapist assistant before setting up shop in 2000 as sole proprietor of The Pilates Firm.
Wendy’s dedication has led her on a near-constant quest to always learn more about health and physical fitness, resulting in a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise physiology; certification as a physical therapist assistant; multiple certifications in Pilates; and extensive training with world-renowned Pilates and yoga masters, including P.J. O’Clair, Baron Baptiste, Rolf Gates, and Richard Lanza. Wendy has experience working with clients post cardiac rehab, hip and knee replacement, back and neck pain.
All of this makes Wendy uniquely qualified to offer specialized functional training in Pilates that delivers noticeable results in her clients’ day-to-day physical activities. Wendy’s expertise and experience in exercise physiology and physical therapy give her an edge when assessing and working with clients with functional impairment. With her skills, training, and experience, Wendy is highly adept at evaluating how people move, identifying their strengths and limitations, and then building a customized functional training regimen that will most effectively yield noticeable results and improved daily functioning.
Along with her specialization in functional training, Wendy offers customized training and coaching on a limited basis that is geared towards boosting athletic performance in specific sports. Wendy uses Pilates to help athletes improve overall fitness, and to achieve a variety of specific goals, such as the improvement of hip and shoulder rotation, or deeper gains in core strength. Wendy’s sports-related training has benefited recreational bikers, runners, golfers, and tennis players, along with pro-football players and pro-golfers.
